What is the purpose of a safety gate?

Pallet deposit areas on high mezzanines are open areas in the midst of guardrails or solid walls and give access to the void. There is a constant risk of falling from height for people or objects. Labour legislation requires that access at height be made safe by installing guardrails around the perimeter of platforms, including equipment for the access.

In response to this problem, AC2M safety pallet gates are the ideal equipment for making these areas completely safe. Our safety barriers operate on the principle of a lock where one side is closed when the opposite side is open: the pallet lock always has two alternately moving guardrails to secure the area on either side of the load. When pallets are handled at height, the pallet gate is open on the void side and closes off access to the deposit area by means of its rear guardrail. The safety gate completely eliminates the risk of falling from height. When the pallet is positioned on the platform, the gate is manually operated and the front guardrail closes on the side of the void: access to the pallet is available for removal or depalletising and the pallet gate protects workers or objects against the risk of falling from height.

AC2M pallet gates are operated manually, requiring relatively little effort - less than 20 kg per operation, but they can also be automated if required. It is possible to cover the front of the guardrail with wire mesh to prevent small objects contained on the pallet from passing between the guardrails. Other options are available on request. Our safety gates are made from powder-coated steel (stainless steel or aluminium on request). Keep in mind that single-axis or dual-axis sluice gates are easier to manoeuvre than multi-axis gates.

Depending on the constraints encountered (environmental and/or loading constraints: hoist, stacker, load handler, high pallet, curtain, etc.), different models of safety gates can be suggested.

Our safety gates type SG1 (tilting), SG3 (lifting), SG4 (sliding vertically) and SG5 (tilting and folding) are inspected and certifed by APAVE and TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH.
